brake light problems

i had some troubles with my brake lights i found out that the wire cluster was cut clean off right above the rear pumpkin there are 5 wires all i am tryin to do is hook up those brake light you buy from wal mart with the red and black wires they are brake and tail but i cant figure out witch wires run the brakes i can get tail lights no brakes though fusses are good the 5 wires have these colors: yellow with a red stripe, yellow with a green stripe, red, black, green

Get a test light, ground one side and connect to each wire one at a time. Press the brake pedal. If it lights thats the wire for the brake light. If it doesn't, try the indicator right then left. If it doesn't try the park light, then put it in reverse. One of these attempts would light for one application. Note the wires to be able to select the right one for your new light or to reconnect for the old ones.

I have a manual and will post the colors if you don't have the time to trace them yourself.
