Brake Light Problem

I just got a 1995 Nissan truck and it has an odd problem with the brake lights. When I hit the brake pedal the parking lights come on, gauge cluster and all. When the lights are already on there aren't any brake lights at all. Has anyone had this problem before?

With Electrical,, it could be several thing's.

Check the Bulb's to make sure they are the type that are supposed to be in the socket's. Someone could have put in the wrong type,, just before they sold it.

Check the Pigtail in the rear for trailer light's and brake's if it has a 7 pin. Could be shorting or wired wrong.
