So for some reason my brake lights are constantly on. Whether I'm driving or have the car parked for the night they are always on. This is a problem because it kills my battery and I've already had to get a new one. I do not want to keep disconnecting my battery every time I park. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

alright i know im a noob and i dont know what all these parts are called but i had the same problem with my z .... ummm you have to look underneath the steering wheel column and u have to run your finger from the brake pedal until you get to the brake switch im guessing thats what its called.... it should have like a little nipple that hits another part that turns off and on the lights... lol i kno i might not be too much help... its a tiny piece that might of broken off... i used a washer and a tiny screw in place of the other piece that broke off... just run ur finger from your brake pedal to the brake switch and ull know what im talking bout ... sorry if i couldnt help... i tried lol

^ Brake light switch, BAM. and it seems like the most likely culprit. Its attached to a bracket and contacts the brake pedal arm about 12" up the brake pedal arm.

Agreed with the above. If not that, then the brake relay in the hatch.

Thanks for the info guys. I did find a greenish plastic piece broken underneath my pedal - is this the cause of my problem? Also, how the HELL do I look under the pedal? I can't fit my head back there LOL

You could try feeling around for it, basically the switch is attached to a bracket thats attached to the floor/firewall/dash frame. the pedal has a small paddle on it that hits the switch, the switch is constantly in contact with this paddle (circuit open) when the pedal is pressed the paddle releases the switch (circuit closed) and brake lights come on. you should be able to get your head in there far enough to see the switch mounting location, I can get in there and you are skinnier than I.

I can feel the switch, and the bracket is not touching the paddle enough to close the circuit. However, I guess my head is too big because there is not way for me to get back there lol. Now for the "washer/screw" solution, do you attach it to the bracket or the switch?
