1996 I30 suddenly developed electrical issues. The radio display (clock) goes off when brake pedal is depressed. Brake lights are very dim.

No tail lights when head lamps are switched on... and no brake lights at all.

All front lights work fine.

Any help?

Welcome to NICO!

Sounds like a grounding issue. You might check the wiring at the brake light switch. Have you checked out the bulbs?

I haven't checked the pedal switch.... but I have 12 v at the bulb socket... but no ground. The black wire is continuous to ground but doesn't seem to actually contact the metal cylinder in the socket. This is the same for all 4 rear sockets.

Fuses may have something to do with this, but doubtful. It won't hurt to check them out.
