Did you replace the Bulb with a DOUBLE Filament BULB?

Double Filament has 2 electrodes ~ 1 for drving light, and the other filament activates when you hit the brakes.~

You may know this but, im just ruling out the probabilities~

well if you do have the correct bulb then there has to be something wrong with the wiring from the brake pedal to the lights. try and track down any fuses too that could be blown for some reason. good luck.

Your brake lights use 1157 bulbs. Actually look at the filaments in the bulb to see if they're good. Is it just one bulb on one side not working or both?

I had this problem. What happened was that the plastic where the black ground wires were had melted around where they are mounted and that caused a bad ground. I just went in, unscrewed the ground wires and chipped the melted plastic from around the mounting points and that fixed everything. I also resealed my tailights so no more water could get in which is what caused this in the first place.

Check all four grounding points but only two had melted around mine and the two were the ones for the brake lights.......my tailights would light up just fine but when I stepped on the brakes, the brake lights would go out.
