Brake light on when key is off?

My brake lights dont work according to the brake pedal and there on all the time even when i turn of the car. so i have to unplug the battery all the time.. Anyone know what it could be? ive already tried disconecting the lights and putting them back in but nuthing..im thinking there is some ground touching somwere its not supposed to be touching but idk i need help plzz! :confused:

Brake Light switch. Mine was corroded here about 2 weeks ago. Just pulled the plug and cleaned the contact and it worked. Not an expensive part. Check that and also the stop where you release the pedal is not contacting the switch.

If you have an automatic there is 2 switches, 1 for the brake and the other for the shifter release mechanism. good luck

I will check that out when i get back home thanks. I'm about to go get a door & Hatch so i can lock my car up and have peace of mind..Ill check it out and let you know. anyone else got suggestions..??

This is most likely the problem, look under your brake pedal. There is suppose to be a rubber garment on the back of the pedal that hits a button so when you press on the brake it turns on your brake lights.

The replacement part is like $8.99 at the dealership, or tap a penny to fix it.

BINGO! hah it was that rubber gromet that is supposed to press in the buttons...i just disconnected it for now until i get something to fix it..

just put a bolt in the hole. needs to be pretty short tho. that happened to my s13. search. someone did a writeup on here on how to fix it (d!ck i think?)
