Hey guys! im in need of some expert advice from the forum. i just recently noticed that my brake lights don't turn on when i press on the pedal. The third light in the cabin works perfectly fine but the 2 rear ones dont. when i turn on the running lights it lights up but just doesn't get bright when i push down on the pedal. i just made a trip to autozone to purchase some new ones and replaced both of them and i still have the same problem. . can anybody help me? i searched other threads on this issue and none have any solutions.

Is the "stop light inoperative" displayed in the diagnostic information center?

Did you buy Sylvania Long Life bulbs?

Whats the condition of the light sockets, any burning or melting?

Welcome to NICO.

Check the brake light sensor (the one that reads current draw to illuminate the dash warning if a bulb burns out) - also look for melting bulb tips and black marks in the sockets.

Stop light inoperative is displayed on the diag screenie. and yes i did buy they sylvania bulbs. when i replaced the bulbs the sockets were in excellent shape, no visible charring or any sign of melting.

The Stop and Tail Lamp Sensor is under a trim piece below the trunk lock. Get to it through the trunk. It's possible that it's just a bad solder joint and may be repairable.
