Brake light glowing dimly (Y34)

Hi folks-

Noticed my brake light has started to glow dimly while driving. if I stop/restart the engine it goes out for a while but eventually comes back on. Have not noticed if it comes on during actual braking, or just randomly comes on.

Fluid level and brakes seem OK based on quick visual. I set and released the parking brake to no effect.

Has anybody seen this? Any ideas?

Something else to check... it could be the brake switch.

My light came on when the fluid was low because of work pads all the way around causing the fluid to be low, but it was also accompanied by the slip, vdc, and abs light.
I would try just a tiny bit of brake fluid to see if it goes away, it could be right at the borderline.
