Brake life

Hi,

I was just wondering what kind of brake pad life most people are getting. When the dealer checks our brakes they show very slight wear....even at 50K miles. Our Service Writer said that he expects to see 80K miles usage on the 08 Rogue brake pads. We recently started hearing an occasional slight squeek that comes and goes...I am assuming that it is a little rust on the discs but I am taking it in Monday to get the brakes checked by someone besides our dealer.

Anyone else have any brake wear stories?

Brake wear is so heavily dependent on driving style and patterns (stop & go, hwy, towing) that it's impossible to compare brake life. Some will get +60K miles and others will barely get 30k. I got ~50k miles before replacing mine.

Fortunately, it's very easy to inspect and verify brake pad thickness. This should be done frequently, at least once per year along with a complete cleaning and lube .

My brakes still had a lot left when I traded it in at 155,000km. I do mostly highway driving and during my final oil change they were still fine. I thought that was pretty outstanding for the stock brakes and never touched. I was very impressed, and even after all that time they still grabbed very well.

My new 2011 is now 6 weeks old with 10,000km on it and I'm hoping these brakes last just as long.

Got my brakes checked today (at 59,650 miles) and they were great! Fronts at 8 mm and the rears at 5 mm so I might get 75K miles out the rears! I am very happy with the Rogue brakes....these are my first 4 wheel disc brakes and they are awesome!

I barely managed to get 30k miles out of mine. I have at least 1 warped rotor somewhere, and my pads are starting to go. I do almost exclusively city driving though, and when I'm not, I'm usually towing.
In a few weeks, I think I'll replace all the rotors and pads. Probably going with some semi-ceramic pads, and possibly some drilled/slotted rotors. (honestly, more for the look)
