Brake LED out on 06 M35

What is involved in changing the brake light led on a 06 M. I have searched the forum and can't find any info. There are no screws on the outside of the tail light. And I dont see how to take the inner trunk lining off the inside. Thanks in advance for any help.

Is the light completely out or partially out? Trunk liner is easy to remove. Once remove you will see the 4 bolts holding the light in place..

Brake light only is out....tail light when headlights are on works. I dont see any screws or snaps to get the liner out?

My right brake light is out. I took the four bolts off and got the whole light assembly out. It seems to be one assembly and i dont see where i can get into it to change just the brake led. Looking at infinitipartsusa.com the combo assembly is $274. Looks like i will have to replace the entire assembly...is that correct?

Ok so now im a bit confused.....at first when i noticed my right brake light was out i was driving behind my wife and saw that it was not coming on. Now when i look more closely when you press the brake the tail lights that are on when the headlights are on get brighter....its not a separate light but the same light getting brighter. So if the bulbs (leds) work for the tail lights, whats causing them to not get brighter when the brake pedal is pressed?

I dont have time to do it now, but i guess my next step will be to remove the left tail light assembly and see if i can plug it into the right side. If the brake light still does not brighten i will know that the assembly is ok and that there is a wiring problem.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!
