Okay, so i've been working on "summerizing" my Q and got to the brakes about 2 weeks ago. Pads and sensors OEM from IOS. just the other day the pedal became very stiff and the brakes worked maybe 10%. The pedal barely went in an inch and was very stiff. I bled the lines when i did the job. Also bled the ABS unit, which by the way hasn't been working for a while now but hasn't effected braking. Instantly i thought it was the master cylinder. So i pulled it off my parts car this morning and tried it. Bled the lines again when replacing the cylinder, pedal moved in, but stiffened back up upon fully together. Also replaced the little filter at the rear of the car. Now the BRAKE light lit up when i went for a spin but shut off about 15 minutes into it. The brakes work a bit better but it is still real stiff after like an inch or 2 of pressure. it will stop slowly if you hound on the pedal but the car doesn't stop nearly as quick as it did after the brake job. Before i could lock the brakes up at any time. Brake fluid looked a little rusty but i have seen this in the past years with the Q.Any suggestions....

Sounds like contaminated brake lines. I can assure you that rust was not included in OEM brake lines.

Time to R&R the complete hydraulic system. Also check your vacuum check valve.
