2001 nissan xterr abrake indicator light in the panel on and off

when you hit the brake pedal the red indicator in the panel wll turn onand stay on until you hit the brake pedal again or hit a bump then itwill go off...what is the problem

more than likely you are low on brake flid in the resivior. i would also have the brakes checked as they may be low and causing the problem with low brake fluid
