Hello recently the front right brake hose on my 94 Q45 started leaking (I wonder if someone punctured a hole on it) Anyways I already have ordered a replacement hose.

I have unscrewed the metal hard line that comes from inside the car to the beginning of the brake hose. The problem is how to I remove the hose from the first bracket. There is a metal bracket that seems like it could slide off but its locked in by the other bracket that holds the hose in place. I have not found a way to get around that.

The other bracket in the middle of the hose seems easy to take off, just can't get that first one off. I have asked in the Q45 forum but they are fairly off topic there and I'm not getting any real feedback so any help please?

They are spring clips. Maybe douse it in WD-40 or PB Blaster.

Ahh thanks I will keep that in mind if I'm lucky enough to get my car back. Have a can sitting right in front of me.

What have you tried? It sounds like you've gotten frustrated which takes away all gumption-trust me, I've been there.

Also, I kept you on track with the spring clip idea but you tripped people up by driving a car with a leaking brake hose. Also, unless you're James Bond or have an angry ex the hose is leaking due to age and neglect.

Its held on with a spring clip which slides off in one of two directions. Worst case scenario, just destroy the old hose taking it off, you can always zip tie the new one if you can't save the spring clips.

Yes I know that would trip people out... but the fact is the leak isn't very leaky. Only leaks under high pressure (such as pumping it even after pressure is fully built up). I've scraped all the tar off the bracket and played around with it for about 5 minutes.

Finally got the 93 back on the road again... the lugnut screws were bad (4 out of 5 cross-threaded because of a full-size spare that was on it.)... it was a TOTAL anal pain drilling, cutting and so on had to get extremely creative with all my tools... weekS worth project.

I took a quick look at the brakeline bracket today while I was replacing the tires. Was a little too busy today to actually work on it. I couldn't really figure out how it is a spring clip but I'll take a good look and hopefully fix it tomorrow. Thanks for your support.

That is how hoses fail, if not catastrophically bursting.

I took off my my left rear tire last week and one of the lugs was quite smaller than the other 4. My mechanic ahd a doozy of a time getting it off.

Yes I nearly gave up out of anger 2 or 3 times getting those off. It wasn't actually due to a spare that screwed up all the lug screws... it was a tire with a bubble in it and with aftermarket wheels it has holes for the lug nuts... no opening around it. Man it was a pain.

Now, remember this experience ALWAYS. Every time you work on your car-remember this. And when you get stuck working on your car-thats when it really comes in handy:

Anything can be fixed-anything.
