Its time to do the brakes on my '98 240. What rotors and pads do you all recommend? I just can't afford, nor do I really have a need to upgrade the calipers. I may spend the $100 or so to get some steel braided brake lines, though.

But, I'm mostly just going to replace the pads (duh) and get some new rotors.

What do you all recommend?

You want upgraded rotors or stock? I replaced my rears with stock rotors and pads from Autozone. It only cost me around 80 bucks for the pads and rotors. I also am considering replacing the lines with S/S braided.....I hear this is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to increase pedal feel.

-goodridge stainless steel lines-axxis metal master or comprable "street performance" pad(check out enjuku racing and others)-cross-drilled OR slotted rotors(I have power stops)

thats what I run :)-chet

where do you guys buy your stuffs? I can't just walk into an autozone and ask for cross-drilled rotors. Or can I? I've never really tried, come to think of it. I've always just replaced stock.

If upgrading, I like blank brembo rotors, I don't need cross-drilled/slotted rotors because I don't expect to be in heavy braking conditions (at least not yet). Blank rotors don't wear out your pads as quickly either, but they will fade quickly when you start braking heavily in short time intervals.

Chances are, your rotors might still be good, check for thickness and see if you can still use them. Look in a service guide or whatever will provide you with rotor thickness information.

I'm soon due for brake pad change and kinda slow at doing the research since I have enough brake life to prolly last me til December (unless I start abusing the brakes). Just gotta sift through some old posts and see what people have to say about some pads they've used and then I'll figure out what I wanna get based on whatever information I get.

The best bang for the buck using the stock calipers would be the Powerslot rotors and Hawk HPS pads. Give me a call and I can shoot you a price:)
