I have no brake pedal power at all and when I looked under the hood there was brake fluid leaking behind the brake master cylinder against the brake booster. It could be either the brake master cylinder or the brake booster. Can anyone help out?

yep. the seal blows in the master, fluid leaks out the back. its a fairly straight forward job, but make sure you are able to bleed the entire brake system.

thanks for the inputs guys. Now I don't have to spend about $100 to replace a perfectly working brake booster.

snail or other NICOnaut:

does he have to worry about the residual brake fluid that leaked into the booster? I know that stuff can peel paint/cause corrosion that way...

it doesnt leak into the booster, it leaks down the front of the booster and drips on the frame rail in the engine bay. mine did the same thing, i got some clear paint, scraped away as much of the bubbled up paint as i could, and went over it with the clear stuff before moisture could ever affect the area.

i'd go 4 the whole thing than just the kit: carries a lifetime warranty if it ever blew again (which my raybestos clutch master cyl did)
