I asked Infiniti if the fluid was replaced when they did my brakes and they said no. I don't know what to believe so I'm having them do it ($143). I'm going to an indep place next time I need to do brakes. Thanks for the reply.AWGD8 wrote:When I had my break job done at the dealership, (Front was done free due to TSB and I paid for the rear since that was the issue) the service adviser told me that break fluid replacement was included with the service. The best way to check this is to verify on the order or receipt. They should have all the records done. Just do not tell them you are due for the service.
I do not trust them sometimes when they put some comments on the invoice or work order that was done. I remember my 30K prepaid maintenance work done and the work order shows Coolant and transmission/differential fluid were replaced, but when I asked them at 55K miles, their computer does not show these fluids were changed. My prepaid maintenance was not the top of the line service that includes those...These were optional.
I was asking if fluid replacement was normally a part of brake pad replacement @ the dealership. Your response kind of implies that it isn't. I don't trust myself to do brake pads. Replacing the cabin air filter was a challenge, ha ha. Thanks for replying.AZhitman wrote:AFAIK, brake flush is not part of a 30k maintenance. There's really not a huge need for it at that point. I do a full flush every 50-60K miles.
Next time you need brakes (not breaks), consider tackling it yourself. It's not hard, and we can walk you through it (we even have the factory service manual for you).
Thanks, then I feel less bad about getting the fluid changed. If swapping the brake pads is easier than the cabin filter, maybe I ought to look into it.XIS wrote:No. Fluid replacement isn't done unless you pay extra for it.
Changing the pads is easy-peasy. I think I had a harder time with my cabin air filter than I will when I change my brake pads!!
