I had a problem about 12 months ago on my 2006 QX56.Driving down the road with my family, only doing about 30 mph, went to brake and nothing !sounded like guitar wires stringing but no brakes even when pumped. No traffic luckily so geared down then to side of road and emergency break to stop the last couple of mph.Turned of ignition restarted and brakes back like nothing had happened. I phoned dealership and they had vehicle for a week and fixed under warranty said it was a board failure/malfunction mmm. Never had a problem since but makes me wonder am I only one ?bob

When I spoke with Infiniti on this recently I was "blown off" thanks for feedback for future improvements etc. They had my warranty repair on file re brakes failing but other than remark that components break sometimes, no comment about a electrical/board failure will lose you braking. No comment about other vehicle failures. In hindsight I was lucky I wasn't approaching a red light or an intersection at any speed as outcome could have been much diferent.

Did it feel like teh ABS kicked in? That tends to make the brake pedal feel spongy. There is a specific problem addressed in a TSB. I don't have time to dig it up at the moment, but search either here or in the trucks section regarding the Titan. If this is the problem you are experiencing, and it happens again before its resolved, the brakes will still work, it just ends up feeling light and there will be a lot of vibration as the ABS is kicking in. It will be a little wierd trying to modulate the pedal, but its not impossible to do.

Most people tend to back off the pedal as under light braking, it feels like nothing is happening or that the pedal is sinking. Hopefully that is it. If you feel it happen again, and if safe to do so, take a quick peek at your dash. If the ABS or VDC light comes on, that's likely the issue. Outside of a brake fluid leak there really isn't a reason the brakes would stop working altogether. Even a brake booster failure would just require more pedal effort.

If this happens, I just turn the car off and turn it back on when it is safe to do so. Do take it to the Dealer and have them address this. Its supposed to be fixed with a simple reprogramming of the ABS unit. I had it done and while it happend a couple of times after I got my truck back, it hasn't happened in a while now.

I can't say it wasn't related to the ABS, but I did lose brakes, I could go all the way to the floor with the brake pedal. It wasn't "pulsing" like I would expect with ABS problem ( I had ABS issues on another vehicle) There wasno fluid leak to my knowledge.

They did replace the brake booster as well as the electrical/board issue after it happened and I have had no problems since, bob
