Ok so I was walking into work the other day and passed by a sexy 370z. OMG it was nice, anyway back to topic…I noticed that the brakes on that thing are huge. so i got to thinking what if I could use those things on my z…so heres my Idea and idk if its even possible. Take the Front 370 rotors/calipers and put them on the front of the 300, then move the 300 front rotors/calipers and move them to the back. I know that conceptz and z1 have some conversion kits for the 350 track brakes but just the rotors…I want to utilize the calipers as well. I wouldn't be against using the 350 conversion kit but would like to retain the 350 calipers…and can the 300 front calipers/rotors even be moved to the back without some kinda bracket?

ok so now that the idea is out there lets here some ideas on how to make this work…

The Z1, CZP, IPP, etc. "Akebono" kit is the 370z brake conversion for the front. The rears on the 300zx have a drum for the e-brake built into it so yes you can use other rotors on the rear (not sure about z32 fronts fitting) but then you lose the e-brake. Please do some reading, I didn't know any of this a couple months ago and it only took a couple hours of research to find out all I needed to know and more.

Also, unless you have a metric f*** ton of WHP and track your car heavily the Akebonos are too heavy for the Z32, the best streetable BBKs are the SZ front kit, the 3000gt rotor conversion or the Z1 13" kit. Unless you are going for hardparker status.

Ive been reading for the past 4 hours before i mad this lol…maybe i just wasn't searching the right thing…I guess I just hate our stupid looking rear calipers…I try some more research...

Just read the product descriptions on the Z1 site about the akebonos, most of the info is in there. Don't hate on the Z32 calipers, they are way ahead of their time and still a very good design, 2 pot floating units are awesome. Its the rotors on the Z32 that are undersized. thats why the 3000gt and the 13" kits use the stock calipers and larger rotors. Also go have a sift through TT.net, there are lots of good threads on the subject there. just google "z32 BBK"

There is a guy out there that makes a bracket where you can fit the SRT8 brembo caliper on the Z with the 14" rotor from a 370z. You can get rebuilt calipers from Rockauto fairly cheap, Z1 has the rotors cheap and the bracket cost like 150ish. You can get the whole swap for like $600-$700.

Yes they are huge and you need larger wheels to make it fit.

And ypu end up being stuk with the same problem of too much rotating mass. If you're after street performance you have to factor in the unsprung mass so any 14" rotor you put on unless its an expensive 2 piece unit will end up with the same problem.
