anyone know were i could find a left front brake caliper. Mine is sticking and it slows my car down, and it stinks. Im pretty sure thats what it is. Also, the local tire store wants $188 to fix this, about how long would it take me to change it.

rebuild the caliper for $10. go to autozone or advance or somewhre and get a caliper rebuild kit. doing it yourself shouldnt take longer than 10 minutes to an hour, since it would seem it would be your first time doing it.

see, thats a tough one. since the caliper is siezing, the pads and rotor on that side should be trashed. when you change pads, you gotta do both sides. if your going to change a caliper, you should do both.

therefore, if your like me, a caliper replacement will turn into a caliper, both rotors and pads replacement.

expect to pay about 50-80$ for the caliper, 40 for a good set of pads, and 60-80 for rotors, and a good 3 hours worth of work if you have never done brakes before.

or take it to the shop for a half assed job for the same price.

see what i mean, you can fix the problem, or get fanatical like me and replace things left and right.

personally, i would shell out the cash and do it right.

and your going to have to bleed the brakes when your done.

How would you know a decent caliper from a good one, coming off of a junked car? Seriously? How many times has the previous owner done a pad drop and pushed back the piston? How long has the brake system been sitting idle? How to tell if the piston isn't siezed? or at some level of corrosive wear different from your other caliper?

The reason the local tire shop is charging $188, is so they can replace calipers, pads, machine rotors, and flush/bleed, AND most importantly, give you a warranty for parts AND labor. Well worth the initial cost of the job. Pay now or pay later, or so the saying goes...
