Found a little info on the web regarding possible brake swaps for a 280zx. Looks like one of the options is swapping in the calipers off an older Toyota pickup.

Anyone here done this mod? I need new calipers and it seems like it'd be a mild upgrade over the stock calipers.

I've heard good things abut both toyota caliper swaps but not sure if they will bolt to the S130? I seem to recall their bolt spacing is different, the S130 actually had decent brakes compared to te S30, I'd look at better compounds and maybe slotted rotors, if you really wanted a junkyard upgrade I'd look at S13 brakes or maybe Q45 calipers, and 84-85 Z31 n/a rotors, I'm sure it won't be a bolt on but hey be a trailblazer

I was thinking about the S13 brakes, just couldn't find anything online suggesting it would be a workable swap. Haven't really messed with a brake system in the past, so I'm not sure what makes a caliper set a good swap candidate. The old calipers I have leak and have lost most of their retaining pins; seems like a good opportunity to make an upgrade.

I need to run by a junkyard soon anyways to pick up a replacement seat, the extendable antenna for the stereo and rear WS wiper, and some other miscellaneous trim; so I guess that'll be a good time to see what I can scrounge up. They usually have a whole fleet of old S13s and occasionally some old pickups.

Speaking of Q45s, there was a beautiful one there a few months ago with a pristine motor sitting in the engine bay. I tried pretty hard to convince my friend with a 350Z to make it a 450. He listened about as much as Nissan has to that request.

like I said not much out there for the S130, but they stock brakes are far better than earlier Z's, I'm willing to wager 84-85 Z31 n/a stuff would be pretty simple to swap on, as far as improvements go, increasing the rotor diameter is the single best thing you cna do to improve braking, this requires moving the caliper out and miaght require larger wheels to fit but will give your calipers more leverage, and good pads are always a good idea

I'm not a fan of the Q motor but for a 350Z it would be a lateral move, they Z makes as much power without the added displacement, and the Z has a direct bolt on manual trans, it never made sence to me that nissan would format the VH bellhousing to be completely unique and have no interchange with the VG's

a bud of mine is doing a VH S13 but he's using a GM T5
