'01 2wd Pathfinder front caliper pins:
I've looked at the FSM diagrams, searched online, but can't seem to locate a definitive answer as to the correct location (Top or Bottom) for the rubber sleeved caliper pin. https://imgur.com/a/EQh7E2y

During disassembly the rubber sleeved caliper pin was in the bottom on one side and the top on the other. I assumed installer error by some previous service. So I reinstalled with the rubber pin on top for each side as that seemed to be the consensus out there.

I'm wondering if it even matters as long as they are mirror imaged or if it doesn't matter at all if one is on top & the other on the bottom?

You got it right. I had the same question when I disassembled mine then forget which one goes where. Nissan Parts Deal has an actual part image of the pins tagged to their brake assembly image. You can see the one that gets the rubber tip goes on top. https://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/parts-l ... 5=LE;6=AT)

The sleeved pin is on top in the parts drawings (and on all the Nissan brakes I've ever seen from the factory). Both holes are blind on the Pathy caliper frames, so I assume the sleeve has to be for noise and not sealing. Whether the position actually matters, I dunno.
