Brake Caliper dust cover installation.

I am rebuilding the brake calipers on the front of a 1990 240sx and i am fine with all but can't seem to get clinder to slide past the opening in the dust cover and when i put the rubber dust cover over the cylinder and than insert the cyclinder i can't get the dust cover inserted into the groves it supose to fit into,everything works great but the silly rubber cover and i have ask high and low for an answer and everyone says buy new calipers,well new cost $40.00 plus and rebuild kits are $2.50..HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
