hey guys. tonight i was changing the rear pads on my 99 max. while i was bleeding the lines i got distracted and didn't keep an eye on fluid in my master cylinder. while my buddy was pumping the brakes i ran the master cyl. out of fluid. i had the cap off to let pressure off when compressing the pistons, so air definitely got in the lines. i caught it pretty quickly and filled it back up, but by it was already empty. now when i pump the brakes it builds up pressure and the a few seconds later , the pedal goes soft again. Is there any way to tell if air made it to the abs controller? and how do i go about fixing it? Any help would be greatly appreciated....

What you need to do is go back and redo ALL of your brake lines. I know what the FSM says but I was always taught to go rear right, rear left, front right, front left. It's one of those crap situations that has no quick solution. Just redo it and you should be ok.

install new lines, or re-bleed them in that sequence?

Rebleed them I'm pretty sure, the Bleeding process removes air in the lines, thats what the point is, If the car was never on, I'm pretty sure the ABS wouldnt be effected at all. It might be a pain to bleed completely again, I just bled my I30t and it took about an hour and a half to get all the air out of the lines. (I Installed new Brake Lines, lots of air in there).

If that doesn't work then I'd start looking at things like the ABS Controller, bleeding is always the cheapest option to fix brakes.

takes a while just rebleed them all. Figure out how many times you can pump it before u have to add fluid so it doesnt happen again.
