Brake Assist

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hello All. I have Intelligent Cruise Control. I never set it up for cruise control. However, when I first purchased the car it beeped and braked when the car in front of me slowed down. This no longer happens. I am reading about the Brake Assist feature on page 5-49 of the Owner's Manual. Is the Brake Assist feature automatic or do I need to set it up? If automatic. it must be malfunctioning since it is not working now. Thanks for any help.

Per my my FX50S Quick Reference Guide the IBA turns on automatically every time you start the car.

Your Welcome,
also, IBA will automatically turn ON when the vehicle is started. IBA functions when your vehicle is driven at speeds approximately 10 MPH and above, and when the vehicle’s distance sensor
detects your vehicle’s speed is approximately 10 MPH faster than that of the vehicle ahead in
the travel lane.

Not to be confused with Distance Control Assist (which sounds a little more like what you're describing used to happen). However, this setting is not turned on by default. I've never experienced IBA actually breaking.. just beeping. Maybe I'm not going fast enough at a slowing car. But with DCA, you'll feel the actual negative feedback on the gas pedal first, and then it will start hitting the breaks as you approach a car.

Correct, DCA is different and has to be turned on manually each time the car is started. The IBA info I listed above came verbatum from the Quick Guide for my FX. I wonder if TD doesnt have a Quick Reference Guide or what year, model Car he has?

hdfreak & gofast24,

Thanks for the replies. I was out of the country and did not read the posts until my return. Yes, DCA was what I was thinking about. I thought it was turned on by default -- my memory failed me. I'm rereading about it in the quick reference guide and owner's manual.

I have a 2008 EX35.
