I took off kind of hard from a light tonight and my brake light and battery light came on and now they wont go off. I restarted my car several times and they're still on.I checked the battery and none of the connections are loose. There is no loss in the brakes and the hand brake is down. What could be causing this?

Take your foot and pull up on the break pedal, see if the light goes out. Sometimes the break switch sticks. I am not to sure what that has to do with you fast take off but that is where I would start. As for the battery light you can check the alt yourself with a voltmeter. Check the voltage with the car off- should be roughly 11-13VDC pending on the type of meter you use and how accurate it is. Then start the car and check the battery again. It should read between 13.5 and 15 volts. If you do not have a voltmeter take it to autozone. They test battery and alt for free.

Let us know what you find.
