One of the reasons I decided to finally register and start posting was because of this one situation over on the Subaru forums (NASIOC) (I drive an 06 STI)

Anyway, this vendor on there is selling a bunch of R32's as US Street Legal cars, which they are obviously not. When I asked him how they were street legal, he referred me to this guy "Brad Newman." I emailed him and got timely responses until I asked about the federal legality of these cars.

Of course he's based in FL and doing titling, but after reading all the scammer threads, I figured you guys would know if this is a new deal or just a recycled hack.

Any thoughts?

Good to see another "party pooper" fighting misinformation. Keep it up on these guys. http://forums.nasioc.com/forum...39797

That was the more tame thread.

Here's the original:http://forums.nasioc.com/forum...77407

I'm interested if there's any sort of knowledge of this guy. ImportImage (The NASIOC vendor) has a moderate reputation, and if he's getting into bed with a scam then I'd want to let the subaru community know about both of them.

EDIT: also, is this also the same themadscientist from NASIOC?

Your efforts will not be appreciated by those that seek to scam, and those hell-bent to be scammed, but if one person is saved from losing their money it's worth it. I am the resident "curmudgeon" in these parts.

Another TMS, WTF????:?

This must be investigated.

I would love to BS with my doppelganger.

From the emails I've gotten from "Brad"

Brad:Hi [me] thanks for the inquiry, what state are you in? I Import the cars but have another guy do the Paper work. Let me know exactly what you need to know and depending on what state your in that will make a difference, Cali being the hardest. I also have 3 more R32 coming in over the next couple of weeks, Ill forward them to you and also Josh will be posting. xxx-xxx-xxxx thanks BRAD

Me:I am in Maryland, but I am more worried about the federal legality of the cars.

Thanks for the quick reply. Hope to hear from you soon.

BradOk not a problem Ill speak to him and get some more info, ofcourse he will not tell me every as he charges 4-6K per car according to what you need. Thanks Brad

Nothing since

Would you guys label this guy as another broker hack or do you think hes actually doing any sort of importing

He's got like 5 sale threads on the NASIOC forums, 4 for R32's, 1 for an R34 now.

While it may be entirely possible to get a R32 into the states it is impossible to get them to pass Fed legalization requirements so you are stuck with a fed-illegal vehicle with a state license. As some have seen on here there is the possibility of having these cars confiscated after purchase.

Another issue is with the "pay now" issue. These people want the money (or majority) up front and when/if the car gets impounded by HS when entering the states you are SOL and have nothing to show for your investment.

Just because your husband bought a car from him doesn't mean anyone is going to believe that a random wife is going to join a forum, name herself after a person who is a suspected scammer and start preaching the good word. by the way who let you out of the house without your helmet today??

Thanks for your incredibly enlightening contribution, Miss Botox.

I don't think anyone's questioning whether there is a person by that name in existence on the face of the earth.

The fact remains that these "importers" are clowns, circumventing Federal law.

The "fine print" basically absolves them of any responsibility or liability, and it's also usually written in a manner that allows them to keep your money if anything goes wrong. "Good businessman" my arse.

Your little one-post knowledge is like a fart in a tornado. Go read the "So You Want To Buy a Skyline" thread and then tell us what you learn.

YOU need to do your homework. These aren't rumors. We have the most knowledgeable people in the U.S. right here, discussing vehicle importation. Should you care to educate yourself on the topic, you'll be welcome to participate. Until then, you're just a shill who's been fooled by a scammer.

By the ay, for someone who's been importing for "quite a while", he probably needs to get a website up, lol.

He's not a Registered Importer, so your post is irrelevant.

Sorry.

Brad Newman is REAL wrote:Ummm, People ......... Listen up! Brad Newman is REAL. My husband just bought a car from him. I have met him plenty and he is a great business man. He has been importing for quiet a while. This is his passion. Do your research and stop relying on RUMORS to make a decision about someone.
fact: he is not a registered importerfact: he cannot make R32's legalfact: he is advertising them as legal carsfact: this makes him a scammer

if you doubt any of these facts, please provide evidence otherwise. I can provide evidence for the first three, the last one is more of a conclusion

Maybe your husband should come in here and defend his buddy.
