I just picked up an old school hks bov and was wondering what vacuum sources i should use. I know i should def use the vacuum from the line above the throttle body/below the fuel pressure regulator but I'm not sure if i need a second vacuum source. the valve has 2 nipples but i'm not sure if one of them is for a vacuum line or it's where the valve actually vents.

the valve is an old "super blow off valve". here's a link to pictures of it. you can just barely see the 2nd nipple. it's black and on the back of the bov facing the ground in the first picture.

thats the bov that came with my clip.the way it was hooked up from japan was the right,or fatter nipple above the throttle body was then t'd at the bov at both connected to the bov.there was a larger and smaller line, but i dont think that should make a difference

wait, i'm kinda confused? so you definitely use the vacuum line above the throttle body but I don't understand this part "t'd at the bov at both connected to the bov". So do you only connect the larger bronze colored nipple?

It's the two nipples that are confusing me!

by the way 89 240hatch, what did this bov sound like?

well, i got it to work. i teed off both nipples to one vacuum line and then ran it to the vacuum source at the front of the manifold. it's not loud at all but definitely noticeable. the cool thing is you can hear the stock bov venting at low rpm while the hks blows off only at full boost. sounds like a quiet hks super sequential.

I don't really think you need the stock Bov if you plan on using the HKS one, twin Bov's are generally needed for extreme hp applications.
