The next thing I'm getting is going to be a BOV (blow off valve) and wanted some input on who thinks what is the bomb. Right now my setup is the greddy kit with a hp 255lph fuel pump, and a 3inch exhaust. Since the greddy kit didn't come with a BOV that's the next order on the list. I was thinking of the HKS SSQV but think it would be overkill for the 5~6 psi I'm running now but once the wideband comes in I'll be upping the boost to ~10psi The motor is stock and besides the greddy kit there isn't really any more upgrades to the car. I guess down to the questions.

1)Is the hks SSQV over kill for the 6psi I'm running now? What about for ~10psi (maybe even 12psi)? 2)What BOV would you recommend as far as bang for buck? 3)Are there any BOV's that would would stay far away from?

I'm not planning? to up the boost past 10-12psi until I have a built motor, or at least the bottom end so I wouldn't need a BOV that can handle uber boost for a while, but I would be nice to be able to use the same BOV once I build the motor I'm 400hp or so on a daily basis and will be getting the e-manage ultimate instead of the blue one. I want to be able to switch maps and have a 600hp map that I can use at the track probably will have alchy injection too (on both maps) and am starting to look into cams maybe as an upgrade on my current (bone stock) motor, what do you guys think of cams as an upgrade or should I hold out and spend the money somewhere else? I guess my thought was that I could build the head to my current motor and then slap that onto a built bottom end instead of building them both at the same time. Any suggestions, comments, or Ideas/input would be rad, I know it's my car and I'm not asking you to lay out my entire engine build or anything just what you think is better and what worked for you. Thanks and peace, Pat

whats so damn funny. When the hell was I trying to fool you? The main point of the post was what BOV's were good and witch ones were total crap and if a SSQV was overkill for 10-12psi. I also asked for viewpoints on building the head and if it was worth it more for the shifted power band but thinking about the whole head thing I guess that would kinda come after a built bottom end because as rev's go up the forces acting on the piston go up almost exponentially there for making it a better chance that something will give down there. Sorry about how many words I used, I just wanted to know if say a 1G DSM BOV (crushed or not) was worth it and if I should be looking into a $250 BOV and use it down the road or get a cheapo BOV for current boost and that would be at it's limits at 12psi. Since I already know I will most likely be venting to atmosphere unless the E-manage can't handle it for some reason even tho it has an anti stall setting but I've seen cases where it didn't work out and they ended up going the recirculation route. Either way I don't see where I was all that funny or where I'm fooling anyone about anything. Since I seem to be so dense would you please point out the hysterical part of my post?

Thanks

Rick's SSQ fell apart at a race I was at.

I like the JGS, designed similar to the HKS Racegate. Higher quality materials from what I've seen and have in front of me.

So the SSQV sucked and was poor quality that's kinda a bummer I though it would be top notch since it comes with such a high price tag, It wasn't a knock off or some thing like that was it?

I think I might just get a 1st gen DSM BOV and live with it except I don't want to cut up my IC pipes then when I go over the 12psi Range and have to install another BOV and since I'm thinking about upgrades already IDK what I'm gonna be doing cuz I also need a winter beater and I'd like to stop using the 240sx as a Daily driver and get serious with it. I'm thinking about a maxima really hard. In Lu of that I'm thinking the 240 might have to have extend the break from being modified on the 240 so I can scoop up a decent maxima and after winter use it as a daily driver then too. IDK I'm gonna have to go over everything again because with winter just around the corner here in Wisconsin and I would like a decent maxima too not just a piece of crap, I think I'm going to have to rethink this whole "round 2 upgrade" thing. Oh well I'm still looking for input because it will happen just not as soon as I though maybe. Peace, Pat

I guess all plans will have to be put aside so that I can get a winter car and not take the 240sx through winter, I would hate to ruin this car by letting salt get to it. Thanks for the help all, and sorry to say I guess it won't be needed or at least till next spring. I'm currently looking into maximas as a winter car/ Daily driver. Front wheel drive ain't my thing tho but the power they have is impressive.
