which flutter sound?I don't think there really is, your probably thinking of compressor surge. Which is basically the sound of air trying to go backwards through the compressor housing of your turbo instead of out of the bov when you let off the gas. If you really want that noise, unhook your bov vaccum line, but it's pretty bad for your turbo.

flutter is bad. but i think the sard r2d2 does it a little,

you can get that by using any bov and keeping the spring tight so it doesnt open untill 4psi causing comp surge. not good for your turbo.. but if you must have the flutter then you must pay the price and possibly change out turbo after some time...

I always hear that it is bad for a turbo, but I have never heard anybody say they had to replace a turbo because of it. Was wondering if anybody has actually heard of a turbo having to be replaced/rebuilt because of the effects of the fluttering sound. Sorry to change the subject a little but I have just always wondered about that.

well my turbo just went , but im not sure if the fluttering of the turbo on low boost was a cause, i have people say it was old age but i dont see directly fluttering causing the turbo to fail unless you run a stupid amount of boost 15+ and dont use a bov then i can see bad things happening to the journal and thrust bearing inside the turbo..

ok thanks for all of that i guess. i know what compression surge is. i was talkin about a bov i think its the hks brand that instead of whistling or a burst of air sound it makes a sound like a flutter type of release. i heard it on a supra and a friend of mine has a rb20 but i lost contact with him a while ago and never found out what kind of bov it was. i was just also wondering what ssqv on the hks means.
