maybe u should be looking at the functionality before you start concerning yourself with looks/sound...be careful if ur gonna run vented...yer car will run a bit rough in lower RPMs...the greddy typeS BOV isnt bad...it does well on open atmosphere because of the adjustable spring pressure...but considder what it will do for the car before you considder what it sounds like

ive only heard good things about the HKS SSQV in terms of venting to the atmosphere.

I had an Apexi Twin chamber, which has a 'tuneable" sound, nothing special, just loud, if thats what you are into.

My friend has an HSK SS BOV, sounds pretty money.

You really dont gain my but venting it to the atmosphere, you really are much better gettin a bypass valve (ie Crushed 1g DSM BOV, holds up to 25 psi) for a much cheaper price.

I have the HKS SSQV and the sound is awesome at full boost. Squeewoosh!!! Then I recirculated and it sounds like ***. Kinda like a muffled half *** compressor surge. Definately feels better in between shifts though.

i have the apexi dual chamber, sounds like a whooosh, but it always gets peoples attn. id say the most common main point of a bov is the noise, once people hear it they know ur fo sho

this was a while ago, yes I had the screw all the way in. So i gave it to a friend who tried to run it on his supercharged ford F150. Same thing, it would not stay closed, so off it came and he put on a greddy type-s and is much happier with it. I would say that valve (blitz) is 70% rice and 30% function.

hehe

I was recommended to get the old school hks

there are someone who has taken the hks ssqv and said that the internal is made from plastic, and that the valve is facing direction toward the pipe so it may cause seuize

Heres what I think. The apex i twin chamber sucks. That sound is like a air hose blowing. The adjustabe sound doesnt really change anything. Ive used many bovs including greddy type s, greddy rs, apexi twin chamber, and the hks ssq. Ive also played around with a blitz one. The greddy s and rs sound just alike, the hks ssq sounds like a seal clubbing (a seal getting beat with clubs). Thats an awesome sound. I couldnt figure out what to call the sound, so a friend that was riding with me tonight called it a seal clubbing sound so thats what im calling it. The greddy is a very high pitched sound, like a shhpewww sound. thats the best I can do. But needless to say, I like the greddy the best, but the blitz and ssq are very nice. I dont like the freaking apexi one though.....obviously

Hahahaha. I have no idea what a seal sounds like, but I think I know what you're getting at.

I like to describe the HKS SSQV as a bird squeek (under low boost).

Im running the GReddy type-s... Just something about the sound I like. I have a friend with the HKS on a supra and it sounds like a bird almost when it goes off. It is nice though because it has a seperate vavle for high and low boost. say if your at 3-4psi and it goes off its kind of like a snarling sound...kinda earie but it is nice. Wouldnt trade it for my type-s though

Ok, I really don't get this "what does __ bov sound like?". There are a lot of things that affect the way it will sounds, aside from it's design.

Depending on the amount of boost you're running, whether you recirculate it and the spring tightness all are going to affect the sound greatly. So... a BOV is not going to sound the same on every application.

well with my supra at 30psi it sounds more swhooshhhhie than a seal beating, It sounds different at different psi. My wastegate has a funny sound too. Its an hks gt. Id rather hear a wastegate than any bov!!!!

Yea after about 6 months of my hks ssq I got tired of it being so loud and high pitched.... I took out the little tri-star thing in the center, that gives it that whisttle effect crap and now it sounds way better.... It sounds alot lower pitch but still a little loud though...
