Hey everyone,I bought an HKS SSQV a while back and never installed it seeing as I dont yet have an engine to put it on(couple more days :D ). I have heard all sorts of bad stuff about the SSQV ever since I bought the damn thing. I might just sell it on ebay or something. What would be a better BOV in regards to performance that would also sound oh so sexy? I might be interested in dual BOVs for that pimp look and sound :D hehe.

Thanks guys!-Ian

i think it depends a lot on how you tune the bov itself, assuming its adjustable. people might have seen that bov test in a recent issue of sport compact car and seen that they sucked at setting the valves right, and just thought the ssqv is crappy. id at least mess around with it and see how it does. for example, my apexi wont blow off until im on full boost, but this can be changed really easily, so its not like its bad because its slow reacting, its just set kinda hard. if you really dont wanna go with the hks for whatever reason, go with a greddy type r, type s or blitz dd if you wanna recirculate it, or basically anything else if you wanna vent it. my apexi twin chamber is pretty nice, id reccomend it. hope this helps, dunno if someone can prove me wrong, but if they can set me straight, more power to them.

good luck with the engine, tim

run twin HKS type R!!! :) jk

I say if you want a BOV guarenteed not to leak, Greddy has a Type R BOV with a stiff spring. That thing is super stiff... IMO, it is stiffer than my 9 pound wastegate spring!

As for the SSQV, I would say its not too bad of a BOV, its claim is not not leak under high boost and since its a pull type valve structure, the SSQV can not physically leak under any level of boost because boost pressure also keeps the valve closed against its seat. I personally like the Racing Type II design a bit better.

I personally havent found much performance gain from any BOV, thats why I went for a Bailey EVO BOV, gaurenteed to take 60psi/4bar and not leak, and it cost a 1/4 of the Japanese ones.
