ok.. the ca18 uses a bpv or recirc valve right.. what is need to run a bov on these engines without backfire and rich conditions (used to my probe.)or can u actually put on one with any sideeffects? also what is needed to run a z32 maf and would it net any gain on a stock motor.?hard finding the info i want for the ca...

im buying one soon... and i figure maintance first, and a fmic is a must..intercooler piping is a must so id like to get a bov and wasnt sure about it..also how much boost increase will i receive by adding high flow o2 housing 3 inch exhaust and downpipe with intercooler piping and air intake?

these are just some of the thing iive been wondering.. trying to figure out what all i will need..

stock ca18- no BPV. Nothing is needed, I run mine stock with an HKS blow off valve (older model) and have no problems at all. Z32 maf will require rom tune, or piggyback like SAFC.I have a megan racing 02 housing, 3" downpipe, and a metal mesh filter (blitz or apex'i, can't remember which) and I spike to 10 psi but it stabilizes at 7 (stock wastegate setting) with no boost controller.

Is your BOV the HKS Super Blow Off valve? (It says SUPER BLOW OFF on the part that opens)

I have one and it's always open, I ended up putting a rubber piece on the back of the bov to add a bit of vacuum so it wouldn't open as easily..Did you replace the spring?

I don't know, its just some cheap thing. Its darker metal than the older ones and it only has one chamber. It has the stock spring.

welcome to the CA section. I like you used to have a Probe GT turbo as well. to answer your question, I myself haven't had a problem running a BOV at all.

ok thanks for the answers... yea on my probe i ran a crushed 1stgen dsm bov and it sounded good but would backfire inbetween shifts and stall soemtimes... dam vac metered systems.. just wondering hoew the ca reacted...

what type of air metering devices does the ca use.. maf or map?

i think ill get the z32 maf when i get a safc then..

my goal is s14 bb turbo and 10psi. would just a walbro pump and safc and z32 maff be able to give enough fuel..??

A stocko CA18 needs a recirculating BOV.

The air lost out a blow off valve creates a "temporary rich" condition. This causes the engine to backfire between gear changes.

I love it that we have a CA Forum. We need to beef it up technically though.

you can run open-atmospere BOVs, HKS makes an idling stabilizer that oversamples the AFM signal to compensate for the over-rich condition. I shift so fast the BOV hardly cracks so I don't waste the money.

If your bov doesn't leak at idle then you won't have any problems. Sure it might run a tad ***** rich on the shifts, but not enough to cause problems, unless you get one that stays open too long. My HKS= 0 problems. In fact a lot of my friends run atmopheric blow off's on Nissan MAFS cars and they haven't had problems either, although my brother ran a Forge bov on his vane meter T-bird and it was leaking and he had to swap it out.I think that if you have a bov thats in good working order and properly adjusted you won't have any problems, and won't need eids or any of that electronic stuff..

ok sweet.. but i was thinking with drifting as my main focus maybe the recirc would be better.. aid in quicker spool and better throttle responce...

opinion?
