I'm trying to decide which BOV to go with and I'm curious what the group here is currently running (if any), and what you would prefer to be using if you didn't get just what you wanted.

As a side question, would there be any issues with running a mixed-metal piping IC setup? For instance my intercooler is aluminum but I wanted to use mild steel piping for the routing to and from it. Is this a corrosion nightmare or will the silicon hose connections give enough separation that there's no metal reaction issues? I don't have any facilities to weld aluminum...

I was running a mild steel piping with aluminum intercooler set up and it worked fine for me... just get it painted or powdercoated:)

I got my setup off of eBay from a company called Hybrid. I think I paid $650 shipped and it came with ALL of the piping (hotpipe included) Just make sure and get one for the S14/S15. You WILL have to relocate your battery and cut a hole in the battery tray to use that setup. As for BOV. I'm running and HKS SSQV. I just got it installed on the piping last week, and I don't have the motor back together so I don't know how I feel about it yet.

I couldn't find them currently on ebay; if you have a seller name for them I'll check them out. You use their S14/S15 setup on an S13? Fitment issues for their S13 setup? Thanks, btw.

I recommend the old school blitz unit, the Greddy Type S or Type R units even the Apexi twin chamber units The HKS SSQV has shown me its @$$ too many times on other people's car, so you may get a good unit or you may get a crappy unit.

TiAL is good if you're comfortable with venting to the atmosphere. Very stiff, watch out for compressor surge.

As for BOVs, I'm a very big fan of the Greddy Type-S and stock 1G DSM. Even with the eventuality of diaphram replacements the Greddy is a solid unit for a street car, more so when the lower nipple is hooked up to allow for spring adjustments. The DSM valve is very inexpensive, effective and capable of holding a large amount of pressure with few, if any, adverse effects.

Does anyone have any experience with the older HKS Super Sound BOV's?

HKS SSQVHKS Low Tone InsertEnjuku SR hotpipe with flangeGReddy VSPL FMIC

All works out good for me. The HKS is a bit loud even with the low tone in it. I am thinking of just taking the insert completely out and making it super quiet. But I gotta get the car running again.

Well... when I was FMIC shopping the HKS did come to mind but here is the deal with it.....

The Surface Area and Volume of the GReddy was larger than the HKS one..... so chalk one up to the GReddy. Price really wasn't a concern either.... I paid 705 shipped for my GReddy one, but found the HKS one for a bit more than that, but I'd rather have the added surface area and volume than having ALL my stuff match.... I mean I DO have VDO gauges... :rolleyes

But in hindsight.... I would have liked to get the HKS one just to be a bigger HKS whore :) But hey.... as long as my couplers say HKS on them, I'm good.... hahahha

Im tired of hearing the high pitched Greddy Type S and HKS SSQ BOV's.

I ran a 1G DSM BOV and will probably run one or two again on my next set up.
