I was wondering if there is any advantages or disadvantages for switching the bov over to the intake side? Reason I asked being I also own a eclipse and it is on the intake side and not the turbo side. And also I need a new hotpipe and im thinking of just buying one with no flange and mounting my bov on the intake side for no reason I can think of it just seems right to have it mounted like my eclit I guess.

My impression is that if you install an open-atmosphere BOV on the intake side you will be less prone to stalling your car at red-lights. However, the disadvantage to that is that it doesn't make as loud of a blow-off when it does go off.

My open-atmosphere BOV is on the turbo side, and I'd say 1 out of 5 times I stop at a red light, I have to blip the throttle to keep it from stalling. My friend, who has a s13 blacktop, has hers mounted on the intake side and doesn't have any stall problems at all, however, I can never hear her BOV go off.

:rolleyes not really a disadvantage.... I'm sure you will get over the noise after a while :D

Yes BOV's are better mounted CLOSER to the TB. They are designed to help protect against surge and the closer to the intake and better it will be able to do its job period.

Sound makes no difference to me and lots of others. Having a nice BOV that will hold boost and release properly is what they are for IMO... after you pick one that will do that, then get one that sounds good if you are going to vent it. If you have problems stalling then recirc the BOV, simple as that....

The way Sam from Jspec explained it to me was that closer to the t/b will give you better turbo response, but is obviously much harder to recirculate (best response), while closer to the turbo will protect your tubo better and can be recirculated easily.
