I was wondering what you guys would suggest for an rb20 bov. I was looking at the hks ssqv, the greddy type rs, or the sard r2d2. Let me know as far as sound and function

function either the SSQV or Syncronic, since they are pull type.

Sound, thats all up to you.

Sorry, got to disagree. I would never run any HKS BOV on my car. Never. I have personally seen 5 or 6 cars run like poo poo because of leaking HKS BOV's.

Greddy Type R is the only good one IMHO.

And I feel the opposite. I've run SSQV's on many cars with no issues. That being said, I always use new ones.

On my personal RB20, I've used a HKS on stock upto 14psi flange mounted on the stock cross over pipe and never had an issue. Not even in issue with idle, nothing.

The Type R is a nice choice as well.

Since this was a big issue for me (BOV sound) when I first got into turbo cars I swapped out pretty much all the BOV's available at the time on my SR. HKS SSQV, Greddy Type S, Greddy Type RS, Turbo XS RFL-H, Blitz DD.

Away from sound...Type S was fine once I got the tensioner on the spring at the right setting.

HKS reacted the same way without messing with it.

Greddy RS, leaked on me. But had them work fine on other setups, tisk not a fan.

Turbo XS was for the sound. That thing was pulled pretty much after that.

Blitz DD, didn't like the sound even after messing with the tension on it to make it open properly. Wasn't on long enough for me to really rate it. But I do have it on my RB25 GTK500 and I don't even notice it's there.

I should be switching over to either the HKS Racing or the Type R on that setup.

Just my .02$, just find what you like within your budget and get one. I don't see the real issue with them at mild levels as long as you buy quality.

have not had a problem at all with my hks racing type 2 valve...only complaint i had was that with the recirc fitting (the one it comes with) it is virturally silent...i ended up trading a friend for his stock fin insert and now on 22psi when i let of it sounds like orido's supra.i love having a strangled goose under the hood.

I have the Old school HKS Racing Bypass valve.Sounds cool and looks big and badass. It doesn't sound like anything but massive amounts of air running away. But I don't like all of those funny noises.

I do like the HKS racing Type II though. That ones really nice.

The problem I'm having with my BOV is that it is open on idle, no matter what.Probably because I have the white spring (3.5-9 psi for the Pop-off function)

So I have to put some washers in the BOV to keep it closed on idle.

i have used the Turbo XS RFL on my civic and it worked great, sounded awesome and was pretty loud,

on the S10 i have one from CXRacing which is basically a Tial knock off - i have to say i love it - the sound is amazing and is very loud -

if you need to recirculate i like the Forge 007 - my friend had it on his GTI and it sounds pretty nice - a little quite since its recirculated though

anyway thats my 2 cents

Had a turbo XS RFL... I think it stands for Really F-ing Leaky.

Forge motorsports recirculated BOV. Dead quiet, just how I want it.

Yea i really like the sound of oridos supra but the hks racing type 2 is discontinued . I have a friend that has a pretty built supra with a pt67 and when his ssqv releases at 10 psi it sounds like a ****in banshee. Idk i dont want it to leak but i want it to sound good. Keep in mind i'll be running a holset hx35 so it will pushing some air

that bov is nice and pricey but i like. I have been looking at bovs for awhile and this one seems to stand out from alot of others. I am going to be buying one of these.

I have the greddy type r. I love it...it leaks sometimes (kinda whistles when you let off and are not in boost), which sounds pretty sweet, and the car doesn't really run any different when it's doing this, so I really have no complaints.

Plus it is Huge and looks badass, and it sounds mean as hell.

I really think i like the greddy type r. I love the high pitched whistle at high boost but im not sure it will do that. Im gonna pushing upwards of 20psi with my holset hx35

that's basically what mine does. I'll try to get a better video of the bov sometime today and throw it on youtuber for you.

Edit: Here are two vids I just made...audio isn't the best and they're in neutral, so the car is making a max of maybe like 9psi, but it should give you a decent idea of how it sounds.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOTzzwxd ... A7vLhp7eTg

It sounds better when the engine has load on it, but you can check out the other vids on my youtube to hear what that sounds like. It also sounds better in person too.

I have the Blitz DD bov. I thought it was going to suck but I was wrong. I got the higher rate spring but it don't work well under 14psi lol.

I really want a bov that sounds like oridos supra. Kinda how it sounds like compressor surge but just for a brief second. Like that high pitched dose pipe sound without actually having the dose pipe lol

Carl Is it true that the racing type II is pointless if running the stock turbo or low boost. I have one sitting in the kitchen collecting dust.

I have the rfl and it seems like its a lil delayed. but when I went to adjust it I stripped the threads...... WTF???

the type 2 will work on any turbo regardless or pressure or size...its a good valve compared to the ssqv.

thats what i figured. I think im gonna end up using the greddy type r. Im shooting for 400whp so it should sound good when pushing enough air to make that kind of power
