BOV on stock piping?

I was wondering if an upgraded BOV on a stock intercooler and turbo would do any harm or any good? I will end up getting one anyway when I get a FMIC but I was just wondering if it would help or hurt in any way on a fairly stock setup. Thanks a lot!

It will ease the burden on your turbo between shifts, if you can do it now do it.

thats a good DIY but I will have it on my stock intercooled CA18DET. where should i put the BOV? I know on FMIC piping it goes just before the throttle body but since the piping is plastic right there, where should I put it? I was thinkin of getting the HKS SSQV. Thanks!

well you can only really put it on the run of steel pipe parallel to the valve cover immediately after the turbo, the rest is plastic.

sorry, I dont have my front clip just yet, but is there ANY metal piping after the intercooler? I always thought it was better to have the BOV after the intercooler, rather than right after the turbo. If there is no metal then this makes sense but otherwise it just seems a lil awkward. I'm not trying to say you are wrong cuz I know you know your stuff, but I was just curious. Thanks

I try to mount the blowoff as close to the throttlebody as possible to keep the intercooler and charge-air flowing cold. If you are using the clip for all your intercooler parts you have no options except the pipe right after the turbo. When you step up to a FMIC kit you can put it in a better position.

Yeah it's off a datsun 1600. http://www.turbophile.com is the website......pretty good info on the swap. I think the color is closer to the green on the first pic.

U could also weld yourself a T-pipe (about 3inch long x 2.5inch diameter with a 1inch stem and/or the bov adapter plate) and clamp it into the stock rubber pipe.

Where did you order your clip from?

i got it from Venus-Auto in Sacremento. There arent many places who sell the clips near me (Phila. Area) so I went with them. Good price too, just shipping was a pain. It should be here this week or the next.
