So what do you think? Assuming that I don't have a problem with stalling etc... running atmospheric, which would be better for the turbo?

If you aren't stalling, it is alot simpler to blow to atmospehere. No need to buy/build adapter to the bov and weld a recirculation pipe onto your intake. Neither way harms the turbo, they both do the same thing.

couple local guys had their bovs atmospheric and their ecu's would crash. they'd have to restart the car sometimes. one guy recirced his blitz and since then he has said his mileage increased as well. might be something worth looking into now especially with the high gas prices

I would definately reccomend recirculating unless you have a SAFC or some sort of ECU upgrade. I ran my greddy type s atomspheric and the car ran like sh@t. Car runs great recirculated but remember that if you run the greddy type S you need to adjust it properly or you will get compressor surge.

I have a greddy type-S with the Enjuku hot pipe and i have no problems at all with idle/drivability.

i prefer to recirc mainly for the bump in mileage, plus it just makes sense to me. Also, stalling at idle isn't something I enjoy too much

does compressor surge sound like the ch-ch-ch-ch-ch or is it the one where when the t is spooling down, there is a small rough/rubbing/rotory sound. which one is it and how do you adjust them out. sometimes when letting off the throttle after a small blip, the bov will go ch-ch-ch a little bit, at boost it is fine.

I'm not recircing, My car gets about 22mpg on average, if I make it recirc how much will it help the gas mileage? Also, when the bov starts leaking will it not make my car stumble at high boost since the air is still going to the intake (i'm trying to fix it)

my BOV makes a CHE CHE CHE sound (a flutter sound )when i have 100% throttle and then slowly let off the accelorator ... its the BOV releasing excess pressure SLOWLY as the pedal is SLOWLY released.

Here you go - read this it may help

There is another link within that thread that is not working that covered the same procedure.

Damn looks like im hooking up my other SMALLER nipple now to cut out that flutter sound.

IF you have a electronic boost controller... where do you "T" off the wastegate solenoid hose??

I have one hose coming from the hot pipe to the soleniod, then another comin from the soleniod to the W/G acuator (greddy profec b spec 2).

Atmospheric BOV's will never beat the drivability of a recirc. Recircs open at such low boost condition to relieve conditions while at bov's only open off a decent amount of boost (usually in the positive side).

You should only get a flutter from a BOV if you have a ball bearing turbo. Otherwise if you get butterfly sounds your BOV is adjusted incorrectly.

SAFC's dont solve everything, all they do is keep the car from stalling by sensing deceleration of the TB. They dont really help with the drivability as far as smoothness is concerned, so the car will still be a bit more jerky. Also if you have an auto ECU it could almost act like an SAFC since it has a stronger idle than a manual ECU.

you are right about the auto ecu, i have one, and the idle drop aint that bad, now i have the thing set perfect, i think. the car is not as smooth as with the recirc, for obvious reasons, but the super afr by hks has really helped. no flutter(bov adjustment). no idle below 700. and the type s bov with two inputs opens great all around. i can also add fuel according to throttle or gain. ehhehehehe
