Hey guys,

I recently finished my KA-t and i have been driving it around town the last month...

ok, so last night i drove my friends s13 with a stock internal sr20det, with a t28 turbo at 12psi. and a greddy BOV i think.

his car seemd to pull a lot better than my car in1st gear and the spool felt a lot more obvious. also his BOV was pretty loud as well.. (audible outside the car)

i have a ka-t, stock internals, a sr t25 @8psi, and a ebay knock off ti-al bov.

so my quesiton is.

is it normal that my BOV isnt loud at all?

and would the feeling of the pull in 1st gear be so much drastcially different just because he has 4more psi than i do on a slightly bigger turbo?

or would other things such as suspension affect that as well? (he has silk roads, i have stock suspension).

Although different amounts of boost will change the tone slightly due to pressure changes, The pitch of the bov has to do with the bov itself, not the engine or turbo.

The four psi difference between the cars could be part of the difference... Maybe his suspension setup is drastically different then yours... A t28 is going to move a different amount of air then the t25...also iirc the sr's rev higher. Gearing could also be slightly different, giving you a different feel.

So you're wondering why a different motor, turbo, bov and boost level sounds and drives different then your's? IS that actually the question

Suspension does help compared to stock. my ka24de-t has stock suspension and it is like a boat at WOT LOL. it lifts the front up pretty high, if you have good suspension you would actually get more to the ground and feel a better pull.

and yes of course your friend turbo is bigger and is ball bearing right? compared to your stock t25 journal bearing, that is a difference. especially at 4 more psi.

also what are you using to tune your car? timing plays a big role in response. before i use to run afcneo and just retard timing and response in first gear was worst than when it was stock. after i got emance ecu tune my timing would be stock until boost hit and it would retard whenever boost hit. this gave me the response of a stock car that came w/ turbo.

and last i have an HKS ssqv bov and that thing is really noticeable at 7-8psi(boost creep to 8) . loud enough for other cars to hear on freeway, and sounds nice.

get a better bov, since i heard knock off bov can cause boost leak.

If you are around, we can put my PerformanceBox in your car and see what it traps in the quarter-mile. That will give you an indication of what kind of power the car makes.

Contact me on AIM "nissanfanatic240" or PM me on the org if you want to try this.
