Before I buy I have a question. I've been interested in a T but now I'm thinking I'll be stuck with the T's suspension and I'd like to change springs to lower it (Eibach I guess, haven't seen anything else) and some shocks. So would I be better off with a non T model? Thanks, hopefully I get one of these soon and I'll be on here asking lots of questions.

Also, is there anything else I should look for?

1999 and later t models have the auto adjusting shocks. Don't know about 1998. Eibach will do nothing but lower car and wear any shock 50% faster for no significant performance gain.

Get one in the best condition you can with documentd maintenance.

Welcome to the board.

Thanks. I just drove one that I'd driven before. It's a 98 Q45 T in black with tan interior. It's at an Infiniti dealer. I noticed that it didn't have the suspension button. I know that lowerd springs will wear stock shocks, but I'd pair them up with Tokico HP's which is what's on my Si and my wife's wagon. Thanks again, we'll see what happens.

There are no Tokico HP shocks for 97-04 Q. Due to low sales numbers........not enough volume to make it worth while?

Lowering springs are the last resort after you have optimized sw tires and then sway bars.

With an already low center of gravity and a 60 inch track width, 1" lowering only changes roll forces by 1.5-2.0% [the difference in weight applied to an opposing tire.............6-7-8 pounds change is not much on a tire already seeing 1500 pounds. [1100 static plus 400 pounds of roll force].

Thanks for the replies.

As far as lowering, I hate cars with wheel gap. Even thought the car I'm looking at has 17" wheels, it still has about 5" of gap. I plan on going with 18 or 19" wheels, forged 3pc. And it will definitley get lowered. I've worked as a mechanic in my life (mostly did it to learn everything since I always like working on my own cars), and I work for a racing company now as a graphic designer. I also have access to a garage with lifts and all tools so I will do most work on the car myself. I also plan on getting the Nissan Cima badges from Japan and rebadging the car and getting the Japan spec grille. I'll attach a pic to give an idea of the look I want. Thanks again for any feedback, looks like I should have this car next week.

Oh yeah, I meant to say that sucks about the shocks, but I bet the have them in Japan cause I've seen lots of these things very low over there. We have a Super Autobacs (huge Japanese parts store chain, but only 1 in the U.S. so far, it's like Best Buy for cars) near by and I'm gonna see what they can get me. Otherwise, my wife's family is all in Japan (been there, awesome place) and they can get me stuff and ship it here.

Falk - Something you mentioned caught my eye - Can you email me ASAP as I have a quick question for you re: Autobacs.

BTW, I have Eibachs and Tokico HP's on my 95 Q and I'd have it no other way.

Vanity? Sure, why not. :)
