Has the doc seen this yet? I'm pretty sure he will appreciate this setup.

I love it. I previously owned and older single din model of basically the same thing. I don't know why I originally bought a flip out screen, the double din is so much nicer. I think the Pioneers and Kenwoods hold their own against this, but with the audio processor there was no decision for me. I love the control the Alpine and processor give me over everything. There are tons of options to play with, and even though I've had this installed for over a month, I'm still fine tuning the setup.

You mean besides living in the car with a baseball bat in my hands and a pistol under the seat? I'd rather not get into the security on the car, in case someone here is looking to get a head start on jacking my car.

Beyond that though, there really is a limit to how much security you can get for your car. If a thief wants your ride bad enough, they'll get it. The reason I'm in the Altima is because my civic got ripped off. Fortunately, car insurance worked out for me. If it happens again, I'll certainly be pissed, but it's not the end of the world.

This is the crappy part of the install (I hate the look of this dash kit) and why I want to fabricate my own trim panel. I've been too busy lately, but the time is coming...
Look at this thread if you like the factory dash look. Better looking then any kit I have seen.

Looks real, real good. I don't see what's so bad about the trim piece around the headunit.

68260-JA02A would be the part number of the factory dash kit for the cars with auto climate.

IDK how I missed this... this is a real COMPETITION setup... someone earlier mentioned quality not quantity.. this is very true,,, this sub will hit harder than two JL W7's with the right power applied to it... and it's supposed to be good for 2500 watts RMS distortion free

definately not one of the better looking setups, the crosss brands makes for kind of an eyesore in the trunk.... too many different logos.. but again, for function (both trunk and sound) its a wonderful setup! Great to have you on board... spend some time in the Audio forum... now Vballer and I hjave someone else that can answer audio questions!

And folks, this system is NOT for the average wallet... if you want this setup, look to spend about $3000K and that doesn't include install

Dang man, I almost cried when I saw your sound deadening install pics. Theyre beautiful. Many here including myself are really curious on the benefits of doing the roof. Ive got everything else covered so lemme know sometime.

And the subs pure sex too. Im a name brand guy cuz I dont get to too many shows and dont hear the off brand stuff too often, but Ive always heard good things about the setup.

It needs some cosmetics and dressup, not necessarily tvs or anything but some curves, you know? But I love how functional it is. And you kept the tire! congrats on that. I gave up on that a loooooong time ago lol.

Yeah, I gave up on leaving the tire early in the planning stages ... with AAA and 20's... what good is a spare tire?

Regarding this setup, I don't think he needs to dress it up at all... its obvious he's not going for the show car look.. just good clean sound.. and if he's going to a compettion, they care less about looks ha they do about SQ and SPL.... no need for a dress up for that... and of course he doesn't need TV's or anything like that, only an idiot would put TV's in his trunk

I hate the time that is required to gut the car and sound deaden, but the results make it all worth while. The roof on this car does not have too much flat sheet metal that is accessible, but deadening does cut down on the roof flex and removes some rattle from the system. It's also nice when it rains because it is a lot more quiet. I would recommend it if you have enough deadening material left over (I think I really only put about 4-5 square feet on the roof), but it is probably the least important part of the car to deaden.

Most of the equipment I bought off of reviews and friends' comments. Kind of a risky way to do things, but it has worked out for me. The rainbow stuff sounds awesome, and that sub is nothing short of a beast.

I wanted to keep the spare, cause knowing my luck as soon as I removed it I would need it. I originally wanted to put the Alpine amps under the floor, but I decided this wouldn't be possible with the spare still in the car. I figured the space over the battery would be wasted so it was fine for me to mount amps there.

Definitely not show quality for appearance in the trunk, but you're right that I wasn't concerned about this at all during the install. I just wanted the audio bliss for myself and as much functionality out of the trunk as possible. I have no plans/interest in entering the car in competitions. I just wanted to enjoy my ride. The multiple brands is somewhat annoying to look at, but all of these brands had the features I was looking for in my install (I love being able to stack the Alpines and the quality out of them is exceptional for being that small). Doc, I looked at your setup and I'm glad that I'm not the only one crazy enough to go insane on the install. Yours has a much better look to it, but I rarely show anyone the trunk. Most people are just amazed at the sound when they get in the ride (and I haven't even perfected the tuning yet).

I feel you, my setup sounds fantastic.. but yours has much more potential and I think is a better overall setup SQ wise.... your woofer would DESTROY a Rockford T2 or a JL W7... size wise, there's really only a coupld of 12" subs that I can think of that can compare to it... and they both cost thousands of dollars....

I think the Rockford T2 is sexy as hell... but for 1200 watts at 59 lbs... vs 2500 watts at what 18 llbs... no contest there... but your sus costs at least twice as much... you have to pay for that kind of quality... good job buddy!

You say good job, but my bank account says "what the hell were you thinking?!?". Oh well, now when I get in my car it is pure bliss. Driving this car is a blast, and the stereo is now just icing on the cake. Although, after hearing how awesome that sub sounds, it kinda makes the tweets and mids sound crappy. I'd really like to get some dynaudio esotar 2 110s (tweets) and 650s (mids), but I'll have to save up for a while before I can make that upgrade. On a side note, if anyone is ever around the Chi-town area, let me know. I'd be happy to demo the car for members of the forum. I would just have to warn people that audio fidelity is contagious. Once I heard my first good system, I was hooked and I haven't looked back since (way too much money later).

Well, the mid bass on my Boston Acoutsic pro 60's leaves much to be desried, but the tweeters are excellent... they are actually louder than my 1200watt sub...

I know you're not necessarily a brand name guy... but the Boston Acousti cSPZ 60's are supposed to be pure sex... give those a consideration also...

and yeah, drviing in the car with the sound deadener and high quality sound system are a blast... but it does defiately cost... final Tally for me after all of the dust cleared was.. well... too much
