I just noticed the other day that the back of my coupe (1990) is very bouncy even on regular roads at various speeds. The car has Megan springs and KYB GR2 shocks (with stock tires/rims) .......shocks and springs were brand new when I installed them a few months ago. What can be the culprit?

has it been like that since day 1. If so it is poorly matched spring-to-strut dampening.

GR2's are strictly OEM replacements, they are not designed for lowering springs. Are they leaking?

I am runnign Megans too, and they are pretty stiff. Gr-2s are only oem replacements, and are horrible to dampen such spring rates.

They seem like it. Can't believe they are already messed up and it hasn't been no more than 4 months on the car!! I just need to get rid of it.

same thing happened to me. The rear suspension was soo bad, the smallest bump would send the as s end flying. I replaced the struts with KYB GR2 struts but with the same lowering springs. When I took the old ones out, I turned them upside down and oil just poured out, The pass. side just blew last week and they havent even been on a month, with minimal driving. I knew they were ganna blow i just didnt have the money to get all new suspension then. I just ordered some coilovers though saturday and should be here thursday, so im not too worried about it. Your best bet is to get stock springs or if u have the money, just get some cheap/used coilovers or something

They don't market GR2 shocks to go w/ lowering springs. They're not dampened for it at all. That's why they blew so fast.

AGX's, Koni Yellows, or Tokico Illumina's (not Blues because those are like GR-2's)should be used because they are stiffer and can handle the spring rates. (Although KYB states that you shouldn't set the AGX for less than 3 front, 6 rear w/ lowering springs). Believe me, you can still blow the higher end shocks if you try to get springs that 'slam' the car. If you want 'slammed' --coilovers are the only way to do it w/o premature shock failure.
