Hey,I bought a used injen CAI from drifter with no instructions, but I'm just intrested in getting ram air installed because it's going to rain. I've searched but can't find injen installs, just AEM and AEM doesnt have this 3 way red hose. I have run into a few areas I'm not sure about, and have some pictures to show you. I want to be sure about everything before I take the stock intake off. Heres the first problem area:

What's with this 3 way hose? Do I have the right idea where the ends connect? Why aren't there 4 screws for the chrome steel the intake filter goes on? Was it supose to come with 4 screws? I didn't take off stock intake yet, so if the screws are on that let me know

oh yea, if its too small to read from left to right it says:"goes to throttle body?" "goes to cam cover?" "screws?"And the bottom says "is this right so far?"

from left to right again:"no clamps?" (remember i didnt remove the stock intake, are clamps on stock intake?)"whats this?"

If both breathers have hoses going to them because that red hose splits, whats this small nipple thing on the bottom of the intake? This is different than on the AEM install

thanks for the help

Don't worry about the "Nipple thing" It's just there. The hoses should all have a clamp of some kind, and you've got it laid out just right :)Throttlebody to pipe, pipe to MAF, MAF to filter. And your smaller hoses were right too :)

that sucks man. when i sold it to drifter i sent the screws for the maf to the adaptor and the lil hose for that nipple. dont worry about the nipple but hopefully the stock maf screws will work u'll prob need a nut for them tho. ur right with the hoses the one on the right goes to the valve cover then the one that goes bac goes to the brass pipe coming out form the middle of the intake manifold. use the stock clamps

Ok, it's installed. The small nipple thing I put that small hose that I circles in my last picture on.. It was loose at first, so I cut the end off and now it's tight. For the IAT or whatever measures air tempurature I just threw in the box that's below the stock airbox. I taped up the hole with... get this: masking tape

Couldn't find duct tape, but it's good. Also, why do people say 98 240sx's shouldnt have the IAT installed because of that rubber piece that holds it on doesnt "click" and you need an adaptor? They were saying that rubber piece could come loose and go into the engine. How's that possible when the black plastic piping the MAF (i believe it's called) has a screen before it so if that black plastic thing got sucked in, the screen would keep it from going in the engine?

EDIT: O yea, someone send pictures of a place that shows how to install the CAI. I want to do that next, it's just sitting on my bedroom floor. With the Ram air I noticed it got smoother. I thought I wouldn't notice anything with ram air. Should I installed the CAI now? (summer) or wait for winter? I don't think I'll feel anything when it's 90 out.

O yea, I noticed my car possibly was in an accident before. The fan shroud has a wierd cracked/chewed up part, and the radiator doesnt line up perfectly if you look at the bottom. I'll try to take pictures. Carfax said it was clean though, and it drives perfectly straight.

remove the front fender protector from the engine bay or under the car? the front fender protector I'm guessing is that plastic thing that's like a floorboard but not metal?

EDIT: o yea, I got screws from the homedepot. They weren't metric, but they fit.and how do u remove the lower airbox? will i need to access the screws from under the car or engine bay again?

i'm not looking at the car right now so if something doesnt make sense like the floorboard statement its cause the cars on the street and I'm not looking at it now. I'll check tomorrow

after installing i put that plastic back on right? I think I remember when you had the CAI on, you didn't put the plastic back on. wouldnt water get picked up by the wheels and get thrown on the filter?

Watch for puddles over 3 inches even with the plastic on. That's how I got mine and I still managed to suck in enuff water to stall out. Your best bet is to buy the AEM bypass and hook it up right after the MAF.

About the AirSensor Thing for the Injen Air Intake... It sticks out a little... Is it suppose to be out a little or should I cover it like APZAK? He used masking tape... not sure if that will last but should it be left alone or covered? I had the intake on for bout 6k miles already and nothing has happened (knock on wood) so I am assuming this is ok. Just want was is best for it. Thanks for all your help. Oh and the little nipple thingy was kind of tight to put on but its there.
