It's white, grey interior, sunroof, 5-speed, FWD, power windows/locks/mirrors - $500 bucks.
It's been sitting at one of those crappy little dirt-lot dealerships for months now, and my fiance and I had been eyeing it for a while but hadn't stopped to check it out until yesterday.
After seeing the hubcaps and pea-shooter exhaust pipe, we assumed it was just a 1.8L, then we saw the 16v sticker, yep, 2.0. Then a salesman comes up from behind and says something about the turbo being shot.
Turbo?!
Long story short, the car runs, has 201,000 miles on it, the seats are immaculate, the oil is full and clean, and it only needs some minor interior trim pieces. No one is currently sure about the true condition of the turbo, but it is completely bolted up and the engine bay overall looks pretty decent for over 200k miles.
We bought it for the $500.
We're going back tonight to try and pick it up. It has no battery, but we've got one lying around. So we're going to try to hook it up and limp it home...if that doesn't work, we've got a couple of buddies with trucks and access to a tow dolly.
Just had to share my excitement!
I'm seriously thinking about buying a 1g Eclipse now. Stephen has a '92 Talon, we have a '90 Laser, all we need is an Eclipse to complete the 1st generation DSM collection....
