Bought FX35 - replacing steering rack?

Just bought a used 2003 FX35 with 20k miles. It was a leased vehicle. It was making some weird noise when turning and hitting the gas. I thought it was just because the tires were so run down...

I had the noise checked out and new tires put on and it turns out that there's some part of the steering rack that needs a replacement part. Anyone else had this?

I also thought it was weird for the tires to be in such bad shape at 20k miles...

had a weird noise in the front left side of my FX45, thought it was the suspension so i brought it in for warranty. without even driving the car, the tech knew what the problem was... loose fender bolts. Must be a common problem.
