Hey guys, I finally got a CA : D, heres what it came with

CA18DET Block and Head (needs rebuilt, spun bearing in #3)Intake manifoldExhaust manifold2- T25 turbo's (needs rebuilt)Cam CoversWater PumpOil pan (needs replaced)Coil PacksStarterCrank Angle sensorInjectors5 sp. ECUMegan racing down pipe

I for some reason didnt get the coil packs, because I guess i forgot they were included and he didnt mention that, but its all good, I emailed him about it. : )

I know I need wireharness, coilpacks, ignitor, but what else do I need besides like, belts and all that, also will a KAE transmission bolt up, or do i need a bell housing like an SR does?

What parts from the usdm CA can I get? I will take pics of what I have to show you guys, and you can make suggestions.

I need a rebuild kit also for both the engine and turbo, I wanted to put alot of money in to it, go for 400hp, but my KAE is messing up good, so I might need this sooner.

I plan on possably, t3/t4, bigger injectors, arp head studs, megasquirt (after some research on it) 255 pump. But just want to get her up and running asap.

Thanks guys ^_^

CA18.ORG shows you everything that is interchangable with the Pulsar and 200SX. The engine will need an altenator, dump pipe, turbo inlet pipe, MAF, and, Intercooler/piping. You can use the KA radiator w/ the CA. They are the same. Going with a CA transmission may be better than working w/ the KA.I believe it's a stronger gearbox as well. Replace all belts. Most can be bought here. TakaKaira.com sells Tomei + Grex metal headgaskets.Hope that helps! Parts on the way!

Thanks man, appreciate it : D

There are sure alot of little vaccume hoses that dont seem to be connected to anything and all that, so that kinda worries me that I dont know where they go haha.

Do a Google search for the CA18DET layout. It should give you all the specs that are needed, including some that are not needed. The 4 vacumme holes on the side of the intake need to be blocked off. Others will need to be teed into one another. Hope that helps!!!!!

Coming from someone who just did the swap recently, do NOT go right into a modded setup. Get yourself a stock setup first (ie: stock maf, stock injectors, stock(ish) turbo, etc). It is such a pain in the *** to track down little crap. And, if you are looking for 400hp, you are going to need more than a rebuild kit. I suggest going standalone with a fully built bottom end. That said, good luck and have fun!

i ment 400 was the goal after full upgrades, my first post said i what i wanted, with t3/t4, forgies and megasquirt : D

I just want rebuild for now, to get it running, not 400hp haha.

Good Idea! there are only a handful CA18's w/400 hp.The engines probably cost more than a house! no need for that much power, unless you plan to use it alot. At 2,600 lbs. it's not needed.

If you block those lines off you actually lose a little low end power. Most people block them off since the charcoal canister and selenoid that runs into them is coneected the the jdm body harness(and they can't figure out how to wire it), but you can wire the selenoids in through your engine harness and reuse the canister, keeping a little more torque. Hope that helps too. Both ways work, but one is the right way

So from what I understand, in order to rebuild it, you can get all USDM parts from the CA18DE to do it? So I could just go to autozone and get everything I need?? D : aside from the oil pan and turbo rebuild.

but seals, bearings, gaskets, belts and all that?

With a bearing gone, it could possably have messed the crank up? would machine work be needed in any part of this do you think?

Yes. But I really doubt there was that much damage. I had just finished putting a SR T25 and Roclian Garage manifold on it, and took it for a spin.I didn't rev it hard at all (my car being an auto), and it only made the knocking noise once I let off the gas and was coming to a stop. Having spun a Bearing in my original KA24E, I knew what had happend. I parked the car immediatly! I ran w/ a spun bearing for a total of 5 minutes. I'd be suprised if there is more damage, and I hope not! hate to hear your KA is biting the dust, and not allowing you to rebuild on your terms.

Ok so total of what I need are

Wireharnessignitor (from a q45?)altenatordump pipe (can use the megan down pipe if i weld different flange?)turbo inlet pipeMAF (can I use KA?)Intercooler/pipingTrannyEngine Gasket kitHead gasketFlywheel (again, can I use my KA's?)Belts and hosesturbo rebuildpiston rings probably to be safe

Then basics like oil filter and all that mess.

Any thing else I might need or want to replace while I am at it that I might have missed?

Any thing else besides radiator I can use off my KA?

What sucks most is I have done a ton of research and know alot about the engine and such, but once I started to think about my own, I forgot everything haha. I feel like such a total noob.

------------------------------

Things to add as I am going before larger things like turbo and injectors fuel pumpARP head studs (should hold up well with stock headgasket? A friend of mine gets 400 out of a KA with stock HG and arp's)Megasquirt

That should prepair me for future upgrades.

Sorry for all the questions, I just want to know exactly what needs to be purchased and what needs to be done to get up and running, then I can figure out the rest from there. : ) I really appreciate all the help guys!

You can indeed use the downpipe w/ flange cut and welded in place. The KA MAF will also work, as well as the ignitor from a Q45. Don't know about the KA flywheel (I hate KA).
