I just did a qucik eBay search on CA tonite, and I found this:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...89607So I bought em.

Are these the right bearings? I keep hearing about folks having them go bad, so I thought for so cheap, may as well get em and keep em handy.

Go to the autozone or napa website and look up an '85 200SX and an '88 Pulsar and see if they use the same main bearings.

Hate waiting so I checked...both engines take sealed power part number 7012M main bearings. Rod bearings are also the same, sealed power part number 41245CP. Also, both have 133mm length rods. Of course the DET rods are way stronger than the ET rods.

Yes, but the question is do you need normal or oversize bearings? And what are these? "A BRAND NEW 010 or 0.25mm SIZE " sounds like its 010 over size.. migh have to get the various surfaces machined to use them, if they didn't already use that size.

Yeah, the guy is kind of vague on the size. I assumed he had more than one set, either .010 or .025 over. If your crank is in good shape and only needs a micro polish these would end up being more expensive since you'd have to have the main journals ground.

Look for these to be relisted:

STD Rod Bearings

STD Main Bearings

well .010 would be 0.25mm ... if .020 is 0.5mm and .040 is 1mm, which they are

Now that I read your post and reread the auction it does say 010 or 0.25mm. Looks like he put both standard and metric up there just to confuse us me :D

So I am confused. These are the right ones are they aren't? Can someone give me a solid yes or no?

Yes they are the right bearings. They are .010" (10 thousandths of an inch) oversize. The metric equivilant is .25mm oversize.

You won't know if it's the right size until you get the engine apart.

If your crank is scored more than .010" you will need to get it ground more and will need a larger oversize. If your crank is fine then you will need to have all the mains ground .010" undersize. Then again, if you have scoring less than .010" you'll need to grind it anyway so those bearings will be fine.

So no one has ever actually looked at the inside of a CA that can tell me if these are the correct size? Are all CAs different in respect of the bearing size needed?

Something tells me you still aren't quite understanding. CA's take the same main/rod bearings....period.

The ones you bought are .010" oversize. This means they are designed to be used during an engine overhaul when you have scratched/scored main journals. You take the crank to a shop and have them grind down the main journals .010" undersize. Now you install your .010" oversize bearings so that you can maintain the proper oil clearance.

The bearings you bought will NOT work on a crank with main journals that have a factory spec diameter. If you want to use the bearings you bought you will need to have all your main journals ground/polished to .010" undersize.

Bottom line they are the right bearings....provided your main journals are ground .010" undersize. If you don't need to grind the crank you will need standard size bearings, not the ones you have.
