My buddy Jared (Silver2k2) lives close and e-mailed me asking if I'd looked at the 94Q on Craigslist for $1200. So what the heck, I called the owner and set up a meeting. This is what I found:

Two bald tires in the rain and you hit the brakes and go into a skid. End result- both bumpers and 3 of the 4 fenders bent beyond repair. The only salvageable light is the PS headlamp and turn signal, both fogs are busted.

It gets worse. Hit a bridge abutment and a curb during the spin and broke the wheel off at the knuckle.

Ruined the rear bumper and DR quarter panel also. Fortunately the spoiler came out unscathed.

I couldn't see the interior for the tinted windows and had the owner unlock the door. I stared at the gray interior in perfect condition and couldn't speak for a few seconds. Barely a scratch, crack, or any noticable flaw in the entire interior. Definately no rips. The center console is like new.

I must have pawed the driver's seat for 5 minutes feeling how soft the leather is. I hope the owner didn't notice that I spotted my pants (j/k).

My seats are falling apart. I just covered both bottom cushions after giving up hope of ever finding a gray interior made only in 1994. NEver did I expect to find an interior in this great of condition, especially in hot,dry Sacramento. The car was obviously garaged since birth.

I offered the owner $500 and told him I'd tow it today ($80). After a week on craigslist with only one call (me), he gladly accepted. Let the swap out and part out begin (in a couple of weeks, son graduating from college). Got to go buy some lottery tickets.

Thanks Jesda. I'm feeling pretty good about buying my 3rd Q for $500 or less.

For reference: My shredded seats. I just spent 4 hours putting covers on both bottoms (custom fit, cut and stitch). They both looked as bad as the bolsters in the pic.

Amazing that the owner kept the interior that nice and didn't pay attention to the safety hazard he was driving mechanically! Great find!

Mike is awesome

wish list sent. scratch the PS fog, now that i see the damage.

VIN says it is an early '94, i'd guess 08/93 build.

does it start and run?

PO paid $6000 for the car two years ago and would probably still be driving it had he invested in new rear tires.

I was disappointed to see that only one headlamp and one taillight are intact. But the engine runs great. PO jumpered the dead battery to start her up for a few minutes.

It looks like the trunk, spoiler, doors and maybe the hood are the only body parts that escaped unscathed. PO said the transmission shifted great so I'll have to get her up on blocks to verify that.

I already am. Remains from the 91Q part out- 6 totes and 3 larger bins full of usable parts plus two fenders hanging from the rafters. Glad I've got a shop so the wife doesn't have to look at the menagerie every time she walks into the garage or I probably wouldn't be living here.

Mike- I need a couple of interior parts that will probably be duplicates if you are looking to recoupe any of your investment.
