Last week my cousin purchased a 2012 Honda Civic. I really started to think if I made a serious mistake by purchasing Rogue?

- He paid 10.000 $ down, %1.9 rate, 350 $ monthly for 5 years. He get a leather seated, in-dash navi equipped, 2 wheel drive "sedan", with high second hand value.

- I paid 10.000$ down, %1.9 rate, 224 $ biweekly (approximately $485 montlhy)for 5 years for my 2011 Rogue SV Premium Package. I get a fabric seated, regular stereo without navigation, AWD "compact SUV", with (compared to a Honda) lower second hand value.

My wife wanted to have a "SUV", and she didn't like sedans or hatchbacks (and you know: happy wife = happy life :naughty: ). That is why we never look for sedans, but I seriously think that they will pay $ 135 less for a leather seated, navigation eqiupped car? Do you think it is worth paying $135 more for Rogue.

Don't get me wrong. I love my Rogue and I never want to have that Civic. But can you please say something to make me feel better??

I know I am comparing apples to oranges. One is a sedan family car, the other is compact SUV. But for the money I pay every month, I wish to have all the bells and whistles that civic has. Or I wish Rogue has little more to give.

No, I don't think it's a fair comparison at all. You are comparing 2 different classes of vehicles (sedan vs compact SUV).

When I considered buying the Rogue, I was comparing it to the Honda equivalent (CRV). Going top of the line models for both vehicles (Rogue SL vs CRV EX-L), the Rogue came out $4000 cheaper.

Sure, resale value might not be as good with the Rogue... and I thought the CRV overall was a bit more 'comfy and quieter' ride. Still, I couldn't justify the price difference in the end and went with the Rogue.

And when the first big winter snow storm hits Ottawa this year, I think it'll be then when you appreciate being in your AWD Rogue vs being stuck in a Civic. ;)

Qashqai, you are bang on, this is an apples to oranges comparison, which said in another way is "you can't compare these two very different cars, so don't". Im not sure what more to say.

This is sooo true. Qashqai...have you tested CR-V before purchasing Rogue? I'm a big guy (about 280 lbs) and that car was barely moving when I was testing so I had an image what's gonna happen when 5 people in the car. Plus to all of that check out the interior! I don't know about new models but 07 08 CR-V had a cheap plastic on dash when Nissan offered nice soft foam panels that are look good. When a friend of mine who bought RAV4 before me checked my panels in Rogue he could not even argue that RAV4 have same cheap plastic same as Honda. I think you made a right choice. And problems...all cars gonna have problems 1 day. Some of them earlier some of them later. Just checked subaru legacy '11 model on youtube that having problem with CVT on 2000 miles.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELaYlM0s ... re=related

I just came out of my 4th audi A6 wagon, to move into an suv that I actually liked!! I decided the Q5 was too expensive, and not great on gas mileage. Drove the juke, rogue, kia sorento, hyundai santa fe, and the volkswagon tiguan. Felt the most familiar was obviously the vw, but it was small, very expensive, premium fuel and so so mpg. Decided to go with the rogue, and I'm thrilled to report my first fill up is netting me 28.67 mpg!! Thats without highway yet!! I have the top of the line rogue, and it is truly amazing. My only mild complaints are some wind noise with everything shut and no music on. Also sunroof opens only 3/4? I think thats just the way it is. Also trying to decide if I need to get new smaller rims and snowtires for the winter. I drive alot upstate to ski, and its sometimes steep and deep. Hope I will be impressed!
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Iam leasing this vehicle for the 39 mos, but consider the winter tires a wise investment, unless someone can tell me otherwise. Came with 18" tires.

It seems that every brand of car is either having a recall or some other issue. Even before I bought the Rogue, I knew about the problems people wrote on the forum but I still bought it.

It really is a crapshoot when you buy a car in general and I always hope my car has no problems warranty or not. I really feel sorry for people when they get a new car and it gives problems. Yes there is a warranty but it unfortunate when dealerships don't have answers to some problems in their cars. :ohno:

The Rogue has been a good vehicle for me. I was not sold on the looks or the power. Liked the interior and ride. The gas mileage was good for the class. I had buyers remorse for almost 9 months. Then I sat back and looked at the deal and it was the best at the time. I put on the chrome grill and rear spoiler. With the spoiler on I am starting to like the standard SL wheels which I wanted to replace before I drove it of the lot. Hope this helps.
