My Y pipe is crushed in the middle and leaking, the flex sections are torn up.

I ran 235/45/17 tires for about 19k miles and bottomed out on everything. This is what caused my exhaust manifold failure as well.

I bought a Y pipe should install it this month.

+1

a few good pipes out now

I'd recommend getting the Motordyne XYZ clone - same design without the modular pieces

what are your impressions? Was the piping diameter much different from stock?

The factory pipe was just at 2" inner diameter
The TopSpeed pipe was just at 2.5" inner diameter 3" outer diameter

The best thing is the exhaust leaks are gone I dont't hear odd exhaust noises at odd times. The car feels quicker but my rear tires are worn so its hard to gauge performance, full throttle spins the tires all the way through 1st and 2nd and finally hooks up in 3rd. My tires are on sale for cost +$1 at Firestone on the 11th so I'm holding out for the sale.

The car is slightly louder but the tone is improved... it sounds deeper.

I would love to install muffler bypass pipe from the Y pipe to the bumper just bend and run a single 3" pipe.. that would be sweet!

cost + $1 huh? They only make money on the install then? How much do they inflate the #'s ? haha

I had a friend who stacked a few washers between the muffler and mid-pipe flanges. Added a little volume and changed the tone. He claimed to never have any rasp from doing so as well. Just a thought. He was a 2006 6MT sedan.

They are really cheap tires....

Primewell PZ900's.... I like them cause they make a 255/50/17 which I run on stock rims all 4 corners. They are AA traction and A TEMP with W101 rating (168 mph 1819lbs per tire load index)

They are currently $129 each at Firestone will be much cheaper on the 11th.
Even the way I drive I have been able to get 30,000 miles out of a summer performance tire.

I think if I did anything else I would bend single 3" pipe myself and weld on a collector so I could try single straight pipe after the Y. It would be loud but should also be AWESOME!

With the damage to my stock Y pipe I bet my car was very similar to your freinds washer set up.

his washer setup had nothing to do with any damage...it was purely for sound. just spaced the exhaust flanges about 1/4" apart in the rear axle.

3" straight pipe back would be very very loud and resonate inside the car something awful. You should try it!

Oh I was saying the car with washers between the cats and Y pipe probably sounded like my car when the flex sections were shredded.

I used to disconnect the collectors on my long tube headers and 3" pipe at the track with my hemi ram

ahhh...yes, that would probably sound similar. sounds horrible right? my buddy did the washers clear towards the rear of the car though.

I once forgot to tighten the bolts completely down between the Y-pipe and midpipe and it sounded like a freakin' Honda with a fartcan. It rattled my brains and made me hate driving my car. Worst sounding exhaust for 24 hours.

95k miles and still going strong
I have had to replace the bank 1 intake camshaft position sensor and I have TPS sensor that has failed but everything else seems to be working great!

This is the only car I have owned that gets faster as it gets older :-)
