Been a member here for a while as I had a 2014 370Z that I LOVED. Strayed away from the brand for awhile and just yesterday bought a brand new 2024 SR VC-Turbo in Pearl White Tricoat color to replace my 2015 Altima S.

I dont see much movement or new threads in this portion of the forums so its a bit concerning if I need help whether someone will respond :ohno:

The car will get a fresh oil change with Amsoil 5W-30 Signature Series NOW and every 3k miles to maintain proper turbo and adequate lubrication on all rotating parts.

My question is, I did a CVT flush on my 2015 Altima where I changed the trans fluid and 2 FILTERS.......is this transmission on the 2024 SR VC-turbo model the same procedure for CVT trans flush where there are 2 filters to change as well as the same procedure to drop the pan, drain fluid and change the lower filter?? :gotme

Thanks :dblthumb:

BTW.........I dont remember the popups being THIS ANNOYING in the forums as they are now. Wow......... :picard:

The external plumbing is a little different on gen6 Alties and the trannies are way better internally, but the basics of a spill-and-fill and filter changes are the same as your gen5. The unit is still a '10D (or '10H for AWD), just with major improvements under the skin.

Mr VStar650CL, I'm no stranger to forums but I was looking for a way to PM you and don't see the option. I have a question I'd like for you to answer if at all possible. ;)

You don't have enough posts for a PM. I think you need 10 before PM will work. PM's don't benefit the community anyway, so unless your question is personal, ask it here.

I was wondering if you could check my VIN for any discrepancies. It was sold as BRAND NEW but there was an inspection sticker on the window already in which I question the validity of "brand new". Thank you for your prompt response.

Nothing unusual is showing up in ASIST, but that doesn't give me a complete picture. Bump this thread on Wednesday when I'm back at the shop and remind me to run a DBS for you.

I ran your DBS this morning and emailed you a pic. Nothing unusual, it shows a PDI at 6 miles and nothing subsequent. If it had a lot more miles when you took delivery, it probably means they were driving it as a demo. To be considered "new" is up to 200 miles under most state laws.

Thank you very much. The car had 174 miles on it so I guess that explains it. :dblthumb:

One thing about Nissan which drives everyone crazy is that they never list specifications for fasteners, just a part number. Unless somebody here has already measured it, I think you'll need to bust out a thread gauge and calipers.

Would there be an issue with changing the oil at 186 miles to Amsoil 5W-30 Signature Series? I want to change it now, then at 500 miles, then 1000 miles then move to the routine 3000 mile oil change interval with Amsoil. :gapteeth:

Any full synthetic 5W-30 GF-5 SN oil is fine for warranty. AMSoil Signature is a GF-4/GF-5 SM/SN oil, it will do fine.

I changed my new Nissans at 1k, then 5 and then half of the oil life monitor. I switched everything to HPL. Expensive for sure but no more than a jiffy lube would charge for bulk swill.

HPL is top shelf oil for sure! Excellent choice! :bowrofl:

Based off of cost it is for sure. I leased our 18 rogue and used valvoline synthetic changed every 4K up until we bought it and then after. At 87k it doesn’t use a drop of oil and looking down the fill hole is pristine, without a spot of varnish. The newer engines being direct injected made me step up to something that handles lspi a little better (supposedly). I used Schaeffer in the rogue the last change with an old school fram ultra and will run that out to probably 7-8k. My newer altimas will get hpl changed at 7500 during the warm months and probably 4K in the winter. It’s expensive but if your a diy it’s still less than a quick lube. Heel, Walmart changed their pit crew price to like $55 so $80 for hpl or schaeffers isn’t out of line for me. Changing your cvt is far more important imo. Especially if your 24 trans runs as hot as mine does?

Yes, Im no stranger to changing the CVT fluids as well. I usually change BOTH filters and fluid every 20k miles. What I did love about my Mercedes was the fact they have a torque converter bolt for completely draining the torque converters with each trans fluid change. No need to mix dirty fluid with clean fluid like these trans fluid changes do.

Sounds like you’re about like me. I usually do the initial drain and fill, then another within a few K. After that I’ll do an annual drain and fill, usually in the spring so I’ve got fresh additives for the summer heat. If you’ve got a way to track your cvt temps I’d be interested to know what they are. Our new 24 seems to run hotter than my other 2 do. Vstar said that they redesigned the cvt some, so I wonder if this is normal or if I have one that’s going to fail rather quickly.

I been checking these out for a while now as well. :)
Especially the VC turbo version.

When I am back in the US and wait for my Armada to be shipped stateside (which will take 3 months) I will likely buy a VC Turbo Altima to enjoy my time between contracts.
I am partial to the intense red red color I seen on dealer sites, but the Pearl White is my end top choice.

Thats smart. I also believe in early oil changes on brand new engine.
Wth my Armada I waited 1000 miles, sometimes wish Ihad done it sooner .:)
